A minha primeira tentativa de Free Motion Quilt.

My first atempt.

Na segunda acho que ficou melhor, pelo menos as folhas ficaram um pouco maiores.

Te second one is better, at least for me. The leaves are bigger.

Estes foram feitos com o calcador BSR, é um calcador electrónico da Bernina, não correu muito bem, acho que preciso de praticar mais com o calcador normal para depois me aventurar com este.
In the last two I used the BSR foot. I'm not happy with the result, I think I need to practice more the FMQ.

Hoje tinha uma consulta e como previa algum tempo de espera levei a camisola do Tiago que andava à espera de vontade para rematar as pontas. E assim finalmente ficou pronta e ainda lhe serve...para este Inverno claro, depois ficará a aguardar que o Bruno tenha tamanho para vesti-la.

Santa Sack Swap

This swap was possible tanks to Cheryll!
The day to open the presents in the sack was the 15th, but as my partner on this swap Teresa decided to change the rules a little I change it too but in a different way. I'm more curiose than Teresa so I decided to open a present every day. The kids are helping, they choose witch present I'm opening. This way I kill my curiosity and extend the pleasure of opening the gifts for a little longer.

This is the beautiful sack that Teresa made for me!

All the goodies that I recive.

The first I openned, a purse, I'm already using it for my Knitting small accessories.

This was Friday goodie. It's a knitting needle case. Teresa knows I love to Knit and I just love this needle case.

Tonight I'll try to post about yesterday and today gifts, I need to take some pictures.

I had the pleasure to meet Teresa and her daughter at a patchwork meeting. She is a wonderful person and I'm loving the things she made especially for me. Tanks Teresa!

Ontem comecei a acolchoar a manta de Natal à máquina. Resolvi contornar as estrelas pela parte de dentro e não foi fácil, mas como eu gosto de coisas complicadas... Estou a gostar bastante do resultado, só falta saber se fica pronta para este Natal!

Last night I started to quilt the Christmas Quilt. I decided to quilt around the stars and that wasn't easy, but I don't like easy things... I'm really pleased with the result, just don't know if I can finish it before this year's Christmas!

Consegui fazer um saquinho para oferecer à minha amiga secreta do almoço de Natal dos encontros de Tricot, a Ana Paula. Utilizei um tutorial do blog Sewmamasew que pertence ao novo livro do John Adams.

I made a little bag to give to my secret friend, Ana Paula in our christmas lunch( a group of friends who meet every week to knit and talk). I used a pattern from John Adams new book, you can see it on the sewmamasew blog.

Apesar de o Bruno não ter colaborado, consegui fazer um Sling, não ficou muito bem, devia estar mais comprido, mas como quero comprar tecido mais resistente o próximo vai com certeza ficar melhor.

Baby Bruno doesn't want is mummy to sew last night but I made a Sling, it's not perfect, it's too short but I have some problems with the tutorials I have. I want to buy a different fabric to make another one and I know it will be better than this one.

No Domingo a Marta fez a sua primeira abordagem aos exames da RAD ( Royal Academy of Dance). Ela e mais 6 colegas fizeram uma Presentation Class para uma professora inglesa. Tiveram direito a ter a sua professora a assistir e depois foram avaliadas em conjunto pela professora inglesa e individualmente pela professora delas. Apesar do nervosismo antes, saíram de lá com um sorriso na cara e muito felizes, a própria professora estava muito contente pois elas superaram as expectativas. Parece que temos bailarina...

Last Sunday Marta had her first approach to the RAD ( Royal Academy of Dance) examinations. She and more 6 colleagues did a Presentation Class to an english teacher. They had her teacher with them and they were evaluated by the two teachers. They were a bit nervous before, but when they came out they were so happy and even the teacher was surprised by them. It seems that we have a ballerina...

Hoje temos que falar sobre os sítios onde costumamos tricotar... Eu sou daquelas pessoas que tricotam em quase todo o lado, em casa, no trabalho (nem sempre possível), nos transportes, nos encontros, nas salas de espera, no ginásio e na piscina ( enquanto os miúdos praticam desporto) e no carro sempre que vou à pendura. Acho que só me falta mesmo tricotar enquanto condutora do automóvel, na fila do supermercado e nas reuniões de trabalho ( conheço duas pessoas que o fazem nestes locais!)!!!

I'm one of that persons that knit almost everywhere, at home, at work (when it's possible), in public transports,in knit meetings, in waiting rooms, in the gym and pool ( while my kids do sports) and in the car when I'm not driving. I think I just don't knit as a driver, in the supermarket line and in my work reunions ( I have two friends who do it)!!!

Hoje o tema é falar de uma técnica que queremos aprender. Algo que já quero aprender há algum tempo é a técnica de tricotar à inglesa, sem passar o fio pelo pescoço ou pelo alfinete. Tenho que encontrar alguém que domine bem a técnica e que tenha tempo e paciência. Ou então posso sempre recorrer ao YouTube, de certeza que consigo encontrar alguma coisa por lá.

The skill I want to learn is to knit the english way, I knit the portuguese way with the yarn around my neck. I want to find someone that work that way and have the time to teach. Or I can go to YouTube and find some videos about that.

Hoje tenho que escolher e falar de uma tricotadeira que me inspire. Depois de muito pensar porque isto não é fácil pois há muita gente que me inspira de diversas formas, resolvi escolher a Kate Davies, não a conheço a não ser através do seu blog, mas o certo é que me inspira com os seus modelos e com a sua forma de encarar a vida. Curiosamente nunca fiz nenhum dos seus modelos mas os "Mochos" estão na minha lista!

After a lot of thinking, this is not very easy because there's a lot of knitters that inspires me every day in many different ways, I choose Kate Davis, I just know her from her blog but she certainly inspire me with her patterns and her way of living. I never did any of her patterns but "Owls" is in my list.

Hoje vou falar de um projecto que tenho em vista há algum tempo e que irei iniciar em breve, aliás já estava iniciado, mas faltava-me o esquema que nem de propósito veio hoje no correio!

Vai ser a minha primeira camisola Top-Down ( Daily Sweeter) e o fio vai ser o Calmer da Rowan. Depois desta acho que vou experimentar algo rendado.

Começou hoje e cada participante é suposto falar de um tópico diferente, que está definido, em cada dia da semana.

O tópico de hoje é sobre como surgiu o tricot na nossa vida.

Quem me ensinou a tricotar foi a minha mãe. Lembro-me de fazer roupas para as bonecas com restos de lã.

Depois veio uma fase da minha vida em que abandonei completamente o tricot. Há cerca de quatro anos atrás numa das Burdas que a minha mãe compra todos os meses vinha o modelo de um casaco comprido que me inspirou e me fez pagar novamente nas agulhas, não sei porque o escolhi pois não era nada simples, talvez tenha sido mesmo por ser complicado. Desde aí nunca mais larguei as agulhas. Tenho aprendido bastante com os grupos de tricot que organizam encontros, com os blogues e com tudo o que aparece na net relacionado com o tema.

My mom taugth me to knit. I remember knitting clothes for my dolls with scraps of wool.

Then I put the needles down for a long time. About four years ago I found a pattern in a Burda magazine. It was a long coat that inspired me and made me pick up the needles again. I don´t know why I chose it because it wasn't simple, but maybe the complexity made me want to knit it. Since then I never droop the needles again.

I've been learning a lot with the knitting groups that organize meetings, with the blogs and with the internet.

Fora da cozinha. Uma das vantagens de ter quintal, estava tão agradável que não resisti a por a mesa na rua! A Primavera começa lentamente a surgir. Eu sei que para muitas pessoas é sinal de problemas, alergias e afins, mas para mim é altura de carregar baterias, por isso por cá é bem-vinda, mesmo que seja aos pouquinhos.

A semana passada comprei aqui este fio que ja tinha "namorado'' no e-bay...posso dizer que foi uma excelente compra pois ficou a menos de metade do preco normal ja com os portes. Adoro a cor e esta destinado para fazer esta camisola.

Last week I bought this yarn that I was watching on e-bay here ...I an say it was an excellent deal because I bought it for less than 50% including the ship coasts. I love this color and it-s for doing this sweater.

Update #1

I've been sewing all afternoon. I have a break to eat some waffles that my husband did and I decide to post an update. I was working on my son quilt, it's my first quilt and I decide to do handquilt. I wasn't very sure that this will be a good idea at first but now I know it was the best choice, I think handquilting has a different meaning, don't you?

Tenho estado a costurar durante toda a tarde. Fiz agora uma pausa para comer Waffles feitas pelo João e decidi postar o que estou a fazer. Estive a trabalhar na manta do Tiago, é a primeira que faço e decidi acolchoar à mão. Ao principio não estava muito convencida de que fosse boa ideia mas agora sei que foi uma boa escolha, penso que feito à mão tem outro significado, não acham?

Vou participar noutro evento virtual de costura! Vai ser já hoje à noite, amanhã venho mostrar o que fiz...

Vai ser o nome de uma bébé que irá nascer em Abril, a mãe é colega do João e ele pediu-me para fazer um gorro para lhe oferecer. Mas como achei que o gorro era pouco resolvi fazer-lhe uns sapatos a condizer. O fio é o Partner 6 da Phildar. O gorro é uma adaptação de um que fiz para a Marta, a flor foi cozida. Os sapatos são de um modelo do Ravelry que já há algum tempo queria fazer e agora surgiu a oportunidade. Tive que fazer umas alterações pois o fio é mais grosso do que o usado no modelo. Adorei o resultado final!

It will be the name of a baby that will born in April, the mother works with João and he ask me to knit a hat to give her. But I think it wasn't enough and I decided to knit shoes to match. The yarn is Partner 6 from Phildar. The hat was adapted from one I did to Marta, the flower was sewed. The shoes are from a pattern from Ravelry , I had the intention of doing it for some time and now I had the opportunity. I had to change the pattern a little bit because I didn't use the same yarn. I love the result!
